Powered Parachuting
for the Family
Powered parachuting can be an adventure for the entire family. Events
such as Fly-Ins, Competitions, and Cross-Country explorations await families
that are intrigued with the possibilities of enjoying a 3-dimensioned outdoor
experience!
Activities for the family range from a pleasant Cross-Country training flight
with a catered lunch; to flights that include overnight camp-outs; to the more
elaborate Meteorite hunts. (These valuable objects can only effectively be found
from the air. And with a ground crew utilizing a metal detector - the
family is on its way to cooperative adventure of fun and perhaps big $$$.
Most meteorites can easily obtain $1,000 per pound.)
Even though the 2-Place PPC Trainer requires that the pilot be at least 16
years old, and a BFI (Basic Flight Instructor), there are single place (true
103) ultralight powered parachute that have no age limit for the trained pilot.
And as far as that goes, a powered parachute BFI certification is relatively
easy to obtain. It requires only 25 hours of solo flight, 10 hours of
learning to become an Instructor, satisfactory completion of a few tests and a
membership in an association like ASC (Aero Sports Connections), EAA or the
USUA. SkyTrails
Ranch, Inc. can provide all the training and certification needed to open a
world of opportunities fo the new BFI.
